The data preparation metric on your Workspace Dashboard measures the average time to prepare your data in the past four weeks.
It records the number of seconds, minutes and hours that passed between when data was scheduled to arrive, and when data is submitted to storage after preparation activities have been completed.
Every data upload submitted to your workspace has a preparation time, and these are averaged to create your overall KPI that is shown in the dashboard.
Understanding your data preparation metric
The 'view details' popup on your KPI dashboard displays a breakdown of how data is loaded into your workspace. The loading and error resolution method is the biggest contributing factor to your data preparation time, as it determines the individual responsible for correcting errors. There are four options for data upload:
Data is manually uploaded by users and errors are resolved by users. This method requires time to submit the file, and time spent understanding and resolving data errors. The user may need to spend additional time liaising with the supplier for this to understand and resolve data errors.
Data is automatically uploaded and errors are resolved by users.
This method eliminates time spent uploading a file, but still may require additional time to be spent liaising with a supplier to understand and resolve data errors.
Data is manually uploaded by data suppliers and errors are resolved by the data supplier This method enables suppliers to submit the file directly to gather360, and resolve errors directly. It can save suppliers time spent liaising with users to resolve data errors and does not cost the user any time.
Data is automatically uploaded and errors are resolved by suppliers.
This method eliminates time spent uploading a file for suppliers, and flags errors to suppliers directly for a resolution. It can save suppliers time spent liaising with users to resolve data errors and does not cost the user any time.
